Where Boredom and Inspiration Intersect.

My buddy Mike (the one who got me into this whole “music” thing has been sending me his new music and ideas.  He has not done that in what seems like years (life gets hectic).  It has been fun to see his spark come back and to share in what goes on in that brain of his.

Today, a Sunday with little to do, I decided to pick up the guitar and fire up the laptop to see if I could come up with any inspiration myself.  Low and behold, I came up with this little nugget and dare I say, it ain’t half bad.  That means it only has to be half good, so lower your expectations.  While I am really proud of the “vibe” of the song (I was going for an ethereal sound), I am really happy with how I found a way to put a few words into it.  I didn’t have a melody in mind, but even if I did, Heather was right outside in earshot so there was not a snowballs chance that I would be attempting any real singing.  So I went with more a spoken word kinda approach.  The lyrics are ones that I wrote years ago, but ones that I needed to remind myself of in context of today.  You see, I have had several little minor health things happen to me recently and none of them remotely as serious as what some of my friends have had to endure.  However, I have been a little down about the fragility of life (also, being 56 will do that to you).  So, these words that I wrote probably 10 years ago when I was in a different headspace, ring truer today and were a nice bookend to this song’s “vibe”.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.  It has been several years since I actually came up with anything on my own.  Remember the rules….Headphones Only!
